Meet Cindy *special needs/hospice*
Cindy was surrendered to the rescue when her owner left for college. Cindy spent most of her life sitting and eating food in her cage- and her owner fed her a diet rich in seeds and junk, so unfortunately she is morbidly obese. We are working on a strict diet with her and she is doing very well with that. Unfortunately we also felt some abnormalities in her abdomen. A vet performed and exam and is concerned that she has reproductive disease (changes in her reproductive tract). At this time it does not seem to bother Cindy, however it can become more serious if the disease process progresses. We are weighing the pros/cons of going to surgery to spay Cindy, but due to her age and level of obesity she is not the most ideal candidate and we worry that she may not do well. So at this time she will be adopted out as a hospice piggie- even though she is doing relatively well and is stable for the moment. She is estimated to be between 4-5 years old. She may do well with another piggy friend.
