Emergency intake- chinchilla evicted from her home

Late last night I was alerted by someone that they found a post on a NYC Facebook page that someone was trying to get rid of a chinchilla for free due to the the owner’s housing issues. The owner was leaving the country today, and needed the chinchilla out of the house asap. This large lady was reported to be about two years old. I’m letting her settle in a bit before I try to handle her, but she seems fairly curious about people. She will be available for adoption soon!

This was an unexpected intake and now another creature that will be eating Timothy/orchard hay every day. With all the animals in the rescue at the moment, I currently go through 25lbs of hay per month!
